I woke at 7. For breakfast, Lydia and I ate bread. I vowed that we would soon dine better than this. I told Lydia to take it easy today, that I would need her strength tomorrow when I planned on moving my possessions from Riverwood to Whiterun. I was ready for another day of hard work to supplement the 3,000 gold I had collected so far.
Driven by the thought of owning my own home, I worked straight through from 7:30 am to 9:15 pm. Almost 14 hours. Halfway through the day, Lydia brought me a Salmon Steak she had caught and cooked herself to keep me going. Still, by the end, I was a wreck.
I looked about me and admired the ridiculous amount of firewood I had chopped. But as soon as I felt satisfaction, I also felt exhaustion. I would have collapsed if Lydia hadn’t been there to catch me and drag me home. It took us almost 40 minutes to arrive back.
